About the school
Ogene, conga, the wooden slit drum, and the organ. The liturgy at St. Mary’s sounds like the place it is in, and it sounds that way because people were taught.
The School of Music grew out of St. Mary’s Choir, which leads every Sunday Mass and all the major celebrations of the year. What began as rehearsal became instruction, and instruction became a school — open now to children and adults, to parishioners and to anyone in Karu who wants to learn.
You do not need to read music to start. A good number of the parish’s finest drummers never have.

Admissions
Applying for a place
Speak to the choirmaster after the second Mass on any Sunday, or ask at the parish office. There is no audition and no entry requirement; the school takes beginners and has done from the start.
Part of the parish, not apart from it
Both schools sit inside the St. Mary’s compound on Karshi Road and answer to the Parish Pastoral Council. Pupils and students take part in the life of the church.
